Carl Larsson

Swedish Realist Painter, 1853-1919 Swedish painter, illustrator and printmaker. He came from a poor family and studied (1866-76) at the Konstakademi in Stockholm, supporting himself throughout this period. From 1871 to 1878 he contributed illustrations to the comic journal Kaspar and the Ny illustrerad tidning. From 1875, for several decades, he was a prolific book illustrator, his most renowned work in this field being his drawings for Föltskärns beröttelser ('The Barber-surgeon's tales'; pubd 1883-4) by Zacharius Topelius, and the Rococo-inspired watercolours for the Samlade skaldeförsök ('Collected attempts at poetry'; pubd 1884) by the 18th-century Swedish author Anna Maria Lenngren.  Related Paintings of Carl Larsson :. | School in Gardma-s Day | esbjorn pa skidor-start strart | brita smom i du | napp | fredrika bremer |

ZEILLER, Jakob Johann
German painter (b. 1708, Reutte, d. 1783, Reutte) Austrian painter. Trained initially by his father, Paul Zeiller (1658-1738), he subsequently studied in Italy (1723-32) with Sebastiano Conca and at the Accademia di S Luca in Rome, and with Francesco Solimena in Naples, then at the Kaiserliche Akademie in Vienna. From 1733 to 1743 he was a regular collaborator on Paul Troger's frescoes, contributing mainly architectural frameworks painted in the style of the Bolognese quadraturisti. He retained such frameworks in his own paintings throughout his life, even in south Germany where this was generally unusual. Troger's influence on the style of Zeiller's figures and on his iconographic repertory was such that his first independent works in Austria

jean-simeon chardin
Jean-Baptiste-Simeon Chardin, född 2 november 1699 i Paris, död 6 december 1779 i Paris, var en fransk målare. Mästare på stilleben och genrebilder. Chardins blygsamma läggning, personliga stil och valet av motiv från medelklassens vardagsliv försenade hans succe i Bouchers och Fragonards Frankrike, men 1728 invaldes han i Franska akademin samtidigt som hans genrebilder genom gravörernas försorg blev populära. När 1700-talets hovkonst inte längre var populär, steg Chardins popularitet. De enkla kompositionerna, de ensamma gestalterna i form av köksflickor i arbete eller barn försjunkna i sina lekar, påverkade målare som på 1800-talet målade vardagsmotiv. Manet influerades starkt av den lugna klarheten i Chardins stilleben, liksom Courbet hade påverkats före honom.
